Departure of Patrick Smolka from MSIG Europe – strategic orientation remains unchanged

MSIG Europe announces that Patrick Smolka will leave the company at his own request for personal reasons on 31st December 2025.

Patrick Smolka, Chief Underwriting Officer

Patrick Smolka was a member of the MSIG Europe AG’s Management Board for seven years, until the merger in July 2025. Since then, he was one of the two Chief Underwriting Officers of MSIG Europe SE alongside Herbert Baeten.

“I would like to sincerely thank Patrick for the excellent cooperation, his tireless dedication and the many valuable contributions over the past seven and a half years. Throughout his tenure, Patrick has played an important role in developing MSIG in Europe, executing our strategic priorities and strengthening our market position. I wish him all the best for his future”, says Klaus M. Przybyla, CEO of MSIG Europe SE. Herbert Baeten will take over Patrick’s responsibility from 1st January 2026 and will then be solely in charge of the underwriting division. We are very grateful to him for his continued commitment and willingness to take on this duty.”

Herbert Baeten is confident that continuity has been assured. “I have worked very closely with Patrick over the past year and a half and we have always acted in complete consensus.” Consequently, Patrick Smolka’s departure will not affect MSIG Europe’s strategic direction.
